We respond to support requests within 2–3 business days and to privacy requests within 30 days (or sooner where required by law).

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up for Roost?

Download Roost from the App Store, open the app, and sign in with Apple or Google. You'll be asked to confirm you're 18+, pick a username, and choose your pigeon avatar. That's it — no password to remember.

How do I send a pigeon?

Open a conversation with a friend and tap compose. Your pigeon will take off from your location and fly to theirs in real time — flight duration depends on the distance between you. You'll get a push notification when it arrives.

How do I add friends?

Tap the friends icon, search by username, and send a request. The other person has to accept before you can send pigeons to each other. You can also block or remove friends from this screen.

Why aren't my notifications working?

Make sure notifications are enabled for Roost in iOS Settings > Notifications > Roost, and check in-app notification preferences under Settings > Notifications. If you still don't receive pigeon arrivals, try signing out and back in to refresh your push token.

Why does Roost need my location?

Roost uses your GPS location to calculate pigeon flight paths and delivery times. Without location access, messages can't be delivered. You can control how precisely your location is shared with friends under Settings > Location Privacy (precise, approximate/city-level, or hidden). See the Privacy Policy for full details.

How do in-app purchases and refunds work?

All purchases are processed through the App Store. Prices and currencies are set by Apple. Refunds must be requested directly from Apple — we can't issue refunds on their behalf. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. See Terms of Use §8 for full payment terms.

The app crashes or won't load. What should I do?

Try these steps in order: (1) force-quit and reopen Roost; (2) check for an app update in the App Store; (3) restart your device; (4) reinstall Roost (your account and data are stored in the cloud and will restore on sign-in). If the problem persists, email contact@roostsocial.app with your device model, iOS version, and a description of what you were doing when it crashed.

How do I report a user or inappropriate content?

Tap the report icon on the user's profile or the message in question, choose a reason, and submit. Reports are reviewed and actioned — we may remove content, warn the user, or terminate the responsible account. You can also block any user from their profile to prevent further contact. See the next section for reporting by email.

Report Abuse, Illegal Content, or Safety Issues

If you encounter content or conduct that is illegal, harmful, or violates our Terms of Use, report it:

  • In-app: use the report flow on the user, message, or content in question.
  • By email: contact@roostsocial.app — include the username, a description of the issue, and screenshots if possible.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services (e.g., 911 in the US, 112 in the EU) before contacting us.

For users and authorities in the European Union, contact@roostsocial.app also serves as our single point of contact under the Digital Services Act (DSA) for notices and orders.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your Roost account at any time. Deletion removes your profile, messages you've sent that haven't yet been delivered to another user, your pigeon collection, and most associated data. You can also see our dedicated deletion page for the same instructions in one place.

In the app (recommended)

  1. Open Roost and go to Settings.
  2. Scroll to Account and tap Delete Account.
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Your account is scheduled for deletion immediately. Most data is removed within 30 days. You can cancel a pending deletion by signing back in before processing completes.

By email

If you can't access the app, email privacy@roostsocial.app from the email address on your account and request deletion. We may ask you to confirm your identity before processing the request. We'll complete deletion within 30 days (or sooner where required by law).

What happens to your data

See Privacy Policy §5.2 for full details on what is deleted and what (if anything) is retained for legal or compliance reasons. In short:

  • Most personal data is deleted within 30 days.
  • Data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days.
  • Purchase and consent records are retained for 7 years for legal/tax compliance.
  • Messages you've already delivered to other users remain in their conversations until they delete them.
